DJ STAMMA

DJ STAMMAAs a toddler, Paul “Dj Stamma” Watson has always been a lover of music as whenever his mother had her cassette radio he used two cassettes at one time as a means to play mix music as the other dj’s do on the radio and at parties.

The young disc jock began to hone his skills while at home messing around with Dj programs such as Virtual Dj, Paul said that he wanted to build mix-cds that will become as popular as mix-cds from the great Dj Kenny and Portmore’s Ca$h Money.

Paul played out at his very first party while at PCC (Portmore Community College) alongside his trustee mic-man Twain and they both managed to rock the party. After the event, Stamma recognized he has the ability to play very well, and the more he played his confidence continued to grow.

ow while being known as a Disc jockey at P.C.C.  Paul and he his close friend Rico, BG and Twain formed their sound called Oricain ENT. Where they played out at almost every party in Portmore and at PCC; parties such as Calculus, College Dreams and the great My Scheme. This is where Stamma’s musical career kicked off, with every party Stamma played at whether its town or Portmore he is known to leave his stamp which is known as the “Stamma Mentality”. Stamma’s stamp went far beyond playing at parties but also by making mix-cds which began to get a lot of play in almost all of the taxis in Portmore.

As he continued to grow, Stamma began to play on the famous jahkno.com “Jahmix online radio” where he left his mark as well. At this point, Stamma began to play out at a whole host of parties where his popularity started to grow significantly. Stamma then kicked off the sound’s (Oricain) popularity by creating two mix tapes for the sound; the premiere mix tape “the calm before the storm” and “hip hop mayhem”. But Stamma wasn’t satisfied with that he began to do mix-cds for parties such as “la Vida loca” & “Rockwildaz’s 10th Anniversary Party”.

After leaving PCC, Stamma began to work for a about a year while working he also met up on upcoming talents in the music industry such Dj Troy and Redz who taught him more about the true art of playing music. Stamma became very good friends with Keith Bolt also known as Ajrenalin who Stamma did some form of promo for by passing on the word about this new artiste and playing his music while playing jahmix radio. By this time Stamma moved on from jahmix radio to Rockwildaz’s Blaze FM where he left his mark as well with his show “Stamma Mentality”. While Stamma began blazing with Rockwildaz’s Blaze FM and after doing Rockwildaz’s 10th Anniversary mix tape, he was discovered by Rockwildaz’s C.E.O. / Ministry of Events Brian Hugh. Brian took Stamma under his wing after realizing his potential of becoming internet radio’s most wanted disc jockey; Stamma joined Rockwildaz Sound while still doing work with Oricain Ent. Now working with Brian as his manager and P.R. his popularity grew even more as he began playing out at more major events such as C.M.I.’s fresher’s fete, the Pure Plush night club, and J.C. Barbeque. Also working alongside Brian he released two mixtapes, the first one “Stamma Mentality” which received over one thousand downloads and his most recent one “Sumpn ago happen”.

Now as Stamma continues his journey to success, he has gained some good friends and some enemies but that doesn’t hinder him from reaching to greatness as Stamma is very completive so he loves to take on any challenge that is thrown at him. He just tries to work harder to spread his mark on the entire Jamaica and maybe the world with his “Stamma Mentality” slogan. Stamma has several influences such as: Dj Kurt Riley, Arif Cooper, Nicco, Inferno, Ice, Liquid, Chrome, Chromatic, Coppershot, Renaissance and Tony Matterhorn & Sky Juice. Dj Stamma party catalogue is big and continues to grow with him blazing parties such as: Chromatic’s My Scheme, Baywatch, Body Drip, Yardpix Fridays, JC Barbeque, La Vida Loca, Sweat, A+ Thursday, Abstain, Time Out and whole list of events and you can rest assured that his list is continuously growing.
